THE GUVVYS - The Governor's Awards for Arts & Culture Gala and Student Event

This collective two-day event, produced by ArtServe Michigan, is Michigan's premiere statewide celebration of arts, culture and creativity. While the Gala Awards night honors those that have made a significant impact on the arts and culture in Michigan, the Student Event ensures that the future of the sector remains bright by providing middle and high school students with the insight and inspiration to explore careers in the arts and the creative industries. This year's gala is held at the Detroit Institute of Arts. For tickets and more information log on to www.theguvvys.org.

The Saginaw Art Museum would like to congratulate the 2008 award recipients and honorees including Saginaw's Patricia Shaheen, recipient of the Civic Leader Award, and Lois Teicher, one of three honorees nominated for the Michigan Artist Lifetime Achievement Award. This award will be presented at the Gala Awards on November 13. The Museum proudly lent its official support to both of their nominations.
