Family Day: Kandinsky Tree Collage!
Saturday, September 16, 2017, 01:00pm - 03:00pm

Learn about Abstract Expressionism this September with the Saginaw Art Museum's Family Day: Kandinsky Tree Collage! In about 1909 Kandinsky began to think that painting didn't need a particular subject, but that shapes and colors alone could be art. Over the next several years he would start to paint what would become known as Abstract Art. Express your inner abstract artist by creating a colorful tree collage inspired by the work of Kandinsky.

This activity is provided free of charge to children ages 15 and under, and is free with regular admission for anyone over 15 ($3 for students or seniors; $5 for adults). Please note that the number of participants is capped at 20, and that young children must be accompanied by an adult. As such, RSVP's are encouraged, though not required. To do so, please contact Lauren Grotkowski at All art materials will be supplied by the museum. Certain materials may become hazardous if used improperly - always follow instructions given by staff leader. We hope to see you for an afternoon full of learning and fun.
