Docent Training

September 25, 2024

Interested in volunteering at SAM? Be a docent!
Docents/Tour guides lead groups through the galleries, lecturing on the art and museum history, plus engaging in art discussion. Types of tours include public tours, private group tours, private sponsor tours, high school and college field trips, temporary gallery tours, special events, and lecture series.

The training will be capped at 10 participants. All sessions below are required and may require some at-home preparation. This is a rigorous program, and we ask for a one-year commitment (September 2024-September 2025) with the expectation you’d be part of at least 6 tours/programs, which you will sign up for as your availability allows.
