Join us for an art activity every day that we are open during Spring Break! You can drop in anytime between 1:00 and 4:00 pm. All ages are welcome.
Please note that some Spring Break Art Days take place during our Wednesday-Friday hours and require admission for entry. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and ages 15 and under and members are free. If a student is an Arts for All member, the student AND their family will be able to enter the museum free of cost. CROCHETING FOR BEGINNERS – WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1
Have you ever wanted to learn how to crochet? Now is the time! Leave this workshop knowing how to make a chain. Are you already an experienced crocheter? Come share your skills! You can borrow a crochet hook and yarn from us, but feel free to bring your own materials as well.
SCRAPE ART – THURSDAY, APRIL 2
Make beautiful, abstract one-of-a-kind artworks as you experiment with color, line, and shape. We will be using acrylic paint on paper to create these artworks that you can display as itself, make cards, or cut up for collage. This workshop is inspired by SAM’s temporary exhibition It’s All Connected by Mark Piotrowski.
ORIGAMI WITH MARK DEWOLF-OTT – FRIDAY, APRIL 3
Learn the Japanese art of origami by making a paper sculpture without tape, glue, staples, OR scissors!
Mark has been sharing his origami experience in the Saginaw area for over 40 years. He was born in Saginaw and is a self-taught folder. He has given talks and demonstrations at schools, libraries, churches, civic groups, OLLI, the Children’s Zoo, Saginaw Children’s Museum, the Japanese Cultural Center and Tea House of Saginaw, and at several National Origami Conventions.
DRAWING PORTRAITS – SATURDAY, APRIL 4
Learn the basics of drawing people! Use our step-by-step instructions in getting the face proportions down and leave with a new skill. This workshop is inspired by SAM’s temporary exhibition The Price of the Ticket by Richard Lewis.
