Position Title: Guest Services Associate

Classification: Part-time, weekend shifts
Description of Assignment:
The Guest Services Associate provides quality customer service to museum guests as well as maintaining museum standards and security.

Outline of Employee’s Responsibilities:
• Provide quality customer service to all guests
• Maintain Museum security including opening and closing the museum and monitoring gallery spaces regularly
• Relay information about museum exhibitions, programs, events, workshops to guests and answer any guest questions
• Explain and promote Museum membership
• Conduct transactions for new memberships, workshop registration, Museum Shop, and ticketing on e-commerce system
• Balance cash box at beginning and end of shift; record all revenue
• Keep track of Museum attendance and volunteers
• Answer phone calls and direct to appropriate staff person
• Assist full-time and other part-time staff members with event setup and take down
• Knowledgeable of general museum history and collections
• Cleaning of the galleries, restrooms, and kitchen
• Preparing mailings, call lists, and workshop sign-up lists as assigned by full-time staff
• Miscellaneous tidying and additional duties as assigned by full-time staff
• Lead and / or assist with studio art-based workshops according to the methods and instructions provided and developed by the Registrar-Museum Services Coordinator (may be indoors or outdoors)

• Ability to work at least 2 Saturdays per month
• Maintains communication with Registrar-Museum Services Coordinator for scheduling and feedback

Training and Support Plan:
• Training will be provided by the Registrar-Museum Services Coordinator and new hires will shadow existing part-time staff members
• The Registrar-Museum Services Coordinator will be available by phone for immediate assistance and/or by email for general questions

• Reports to Registrar-Museum Services Coordinator; provides reports on visitors, memberships, and monetary transactions after each shift.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a customer service oriented role
• Experience operating point-of-sale system and handling cash
• Basic art / art history background (ability to provide general tour of museum if necessary)
