Last Night the SNL alumni and one of the stars of Ghostbusters all female cast, Leslie Jones, visited the Temple Theater for a night of wild fun. I attended with my girlfriend for a girls night out and we both were nearly in tears how hard she got us laughing.
The night started with the opener Lenny Marcus (who is a co-host of a podcast with Leslie) who got the audience warmed up with jokes about the people in Saginaw vs. NYC, Salt & Straw icecream flavors, and his suspicion of his 11 year old daughter going to “mafia camp”. His vibe was hilarious and I’d love to see more of him.
Leslie came out with a roar of standing applause, she is clearly very adored. She covered a variety of topics including ghosts and mediums, soul mates, dating, aging, menopause, and weiners. Lots of weiners. She danced around the stage multiple times adding to the theatrics of the jokes giving us a real sketch comedy SNL Leslie experience.
What really emphasized the jokes was a man laughing in the front row who sounded like a walrus. It staccato’d every punchline because at times Leslie herself would just stop and look and laugh at him. Which made the whole crowd laugh harder than ever. He probably didn’t think his laugh would go viral but it brought a lot of fun to the whole show.
Leslie really is one of a kind and really brought a lot of joy and laughter to Saginaw that felt needed. I would absolutely love to see more SNL cast in town in the future!
