THE MUSEUM NEEDS SMILING FACES: As the Saginaw Art Museum implements its reopening plan, we are looking for smiling volunteers to serve five hours a week, welcoming visitors at our front desk in a socially distanced, Plexiglas-protected environment. We also have volunteer opportunities available in gardening, marketing, and fundraising. Featured Opportunities

Docents

The Saginaw Art Museum currently seeks individuals to join the Docent Training Program.  Docents provide provoking and thoughtful tours of the permanent collection and changing exhibitions to museum visitors of all ages as well as educate visitors about art, culture, and history.

Docents will attend two initial training sessions and regular training sessions for changing exhibitions.  Docents will give regularly scheduled or pre-arranged tours.

Docents will develop knowledge of the history of art, create rewarding experiences for Museum visitors, meet new people, and work together as part of the Museum family as well as positively impact the community and gain a sense of personal fulfillment.

Historic Garden Volunteer

The Italianate formal gardens bloom from early spring through the fall with a variety of plants and flowers. Volunteer between May 1 and October 31 and help with clean-up, planting, dead-heading and weeding on scheduled Saturday mornings, at your leisure, and / or through the Adopt-A-Garden program.  Master Gardeners are eligible to earn hours towards certification.

Special Events Volunteer

Seeking individuals to help with evening arts and cultural events in areas of marketing, guest registration and direction, and set-up and clean-up duties.  Three to five hours per event connects you with other people and offers rewarding perks such as access to cultural entertainment, culinary delights and refreshments, and a sense of accomplishment.

Guest Services Volunteer

The Guest Services Associate provides quality customer service to museum guests as well as maintains museum standards and security.  Become an ambassador to a leading cultural organization in the Great Lakes Bay Region and provide an enriching experience for all museum visitors.
